The AIMO is one of the challenges used to determine which students are selected to a number of invitations only events, including other mathematics challenges, enrichment classes and training schools. It gives talented students an opportunity to be recognized and to participate in activities which will enhance their enjoyment and knowledge of mathematics. It's a very challenging challenge for middle school students. Usually level C and D awarded students in AMC would attend this challenge.
